Early Identification and Intervention for Speech & Language Delays/Disorders

Updated: Jul 3, 2023

Having a child is full of new adventures and, as the parent, you likely find yourself questioning so much along the way! A big question that can arise is whether your child is progressing within his/her speech and language skills. There is a range of typical progression when it comes to a child's developmental milestones, and having the average ranges for the development of speech and language skills is valuable for early identification and subsequent treatment of identified delays and disorders. The American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) has a multitude of information devoted to milestones and typical development for a child's speech, language and hearing. Linked at the bottom of this page, you will find useful articles from ASHA that will help guide you in the process when determining if you might need to seek further screening and evaluation for your child.

For children birth to 3 years old, there are programs available to assist in screening, evaluation and therapy that you can access. The CDC website provides information for early intervention within your state. You can also access Child Find which helps with identification of children at risk.

Simply Speechy LLC is also an option for providing thorough screenings, evaluations and therapy for a variety of communication delays and disorders. Consultations and appointments can be made by phone/text (850) 270-1614, by email or via the contact page.
